Takeley Primary School

Learning, achieving and enjoying together

Remote Learning

Here you will find advice and guidance to support children's remote learning. You will also find useful information in 'Our Curriculum' section: Takeley Primary School - Our Curriculum (takeley-pri.essex.sch.uk) and its drop down menu sections.

Our key remote learning platform is 'Google Classroom' please visit https://classroom.google.com  please ensure that you are not logged into google on any other account on that device then add your child's username and password. You can get these by contacting your child's class teacher or by contacting the school office.

We also use 'Class Dojo' particularly for learning in our reception classes but also as a key tool to communicate between teachers, children and parents across the whole school. Please visit www.classdojo.com to log in. Contact the school office on 01279 870541 if you are having difficulties here.

Example Remote Learning Timetables:

Please see below real examples of each year groups' remote learning timetable for a week. These are published each week in advance to help support parents in establishing a routine for children learning at home but also we hope establish some flexibility in when children can do some of the independent, video or digital platform approaches to learning.  Timetables along with further details including assignments, resources and 'live' sessions can be found for our Reception classes by logging on to www.classdojo.com or for all other classes via Google Classroom: https://classroom.google.com

GOOGLE CLASSROOM

Please see the parent training video below from Nick Acton at JTRS. Nick supported our parents on Wednesday 10th February to help aid their understanding and use of our 'Google Classroom' learning platform. This video is the recording of that training session.

Parent Guide to Google Classroom:

Please also view a YouTube video of this guide. You will also find other videos in the right hand side of the YouTube menu that might be of help: Parents Guide to Google Classroom in 2020 - YouTube

The YouTube video in the following link also looks useful: How to Use Google Classroom for Parents! - YouTube

Parent Guide to Class Dojo:

There is also much more detailed guidance in a helpdesk for parents within ClassDojo that you might find more helpful to troubleshoot any specific issues: For parents – ClassDojo Helpdesk (zendesk.com)

YouTube also has a series of videos that might help. The following video may be of help and will also link you to related videos in the YouTube right hand menu: Parent and Student Class Dojo Tutorial - YouTube

Safeguarding Guidance for using remote learning:

Please see the attached document for safeguarding guidance that all teachers have been given to help ensure that both children and staff are kept safe online.

What Digital Platforms do we recommend?

We use many good digital platforms across the school, the majority of which our children will already be familiar with. Sometimes these may be built into the timetable and sometimes as optional additional learning activities. We also know that sometimes we all have hard and difficult days when things might get on top of us; at these times as well as taking a break, going for a walk or doing something different, digital platforms can be a great independent and self regulating opportunity for learning that the children can engage with and enjoy with little support or input from parents. Try them, they should be free. School log in details can normally be found within the year group timetable or if you cannot remember your child's log in details for individual access please contact your child's class teacher who will be happy to help.
