Takeley Primary School

Learning, achieving and enjoying together

How well are we doing?

End of EYFS standards: Takeley 82%, National 72%, Essex 74%

Year 1 Phonics Check:   Takeley 88%, National 82%, Essex 82%

End of Key Stage 2: Takeley 72%, National 65%, Essex 66%

Please note that this data is from 2019. There is no data national or local data for 2020 due to restrictions presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a result of the significant changes and improvements that are beginning to be established here at Takeley, the children's standards when leaving us at the end of Year 6 have continued to improve. In 2016 only 44% of the children met the expected standard which was well below the national average. In 2017 this rose to 55% and in 2018 to 61% both just below the national picture. In 2019 this rose to 72% which, for the first time, was well above both the national and Essex averages. Standards were expected and predicted to continue to improve until the pandemic struck.

School Admissions

Prior to the children being admitted in September, they are invited to a half day induction visit to meet staff and familiarise themselves with the classroom. We then invite parents to a meeting where they will have the opportunity to meet with staff, and members of our Parents and Friends Association.

Our Reception children start in the second week of term, then for the first week of school all children will attend mornings only enabling staff to carry out home visits in the afternoon to meet and play with the children in a familiar environment. The children then start school full time.  All Early Years, Y1 and Y2 children receive a government funded free school meal every day.    If your child has specific religious or allergy dietary needs then we are happy to discuss them with you to support your child’s needs.  We ask that all the children have the school dinner for the first three weeks of schooling to help them to integrate fully in the school environment.

For mid-year applications from April 2022 please contact the school office for our application form or  download from below. For any further queries please contact Schools Planning and Admissions on 0845 603 2200 for Reception September start or our school office for any in-year admissions after that date on 01279 870451.
