Our BE Values

At Takeley Primary School, we are proud of our BE Values, which are at the heart of
everything we do. These values help our children develop the essential skills and attitudes
they need to thrive in school and throughout their lives.
Our BE Values posters were designed by our children, ensuring that the values truly belong
to them and reflect what matters most to our school community.

Our five BE Values are:
BE READY - Ready Rangers
Our Ready Rangers come prepared for learning every day. They have the right equipment,
listen carefully, arrive on time, and always try their best in everything they do. Being ready
helps children make the most of every learning opportunity.

BE RESPECTFUL - Respect Heroes

Our Respect Heroes listen when others are speaking, look after our school and everything in
it, value everyone's differences and opinions, and use good manners at all times. Respect
creates a positive environment where everyone feels valued.

BE KIND - Kindness Champions
Our Kindness Champions use kind words and actions, help others when they need support,
include everyone in games and activities, and think about how their actions affect others.
Kindness builds strong friendships and a caring school community.

BE SAFE - Safety Guardians
Our Safety Guardians follow all school safety rules, keep their hands and feet to themselves,
tell a trusted adult if they're worried about anything, and move around school calmly and
sensibly. Being safe ensures everyone can learn in a secure environment.

BE A TEAM - Team Takeley
Team Takeley work well with others, share ideas and listen to their teammates, take turns
and share fairly, and support their classmates to succeed. Teamwork develops collaboration
skills that are essential for future success.

Celebrating our BE Values
We recognise and celebrate children who demonstrate our BE Values in many ways:
Class Dojo: Our Class Dojo system is aligned to the BE Values, so children earn Dojo points
when they show they are being ready, respectful, kind, safe, or working as a team
House Points: Children are awarded house points for demonstrating the BE Values
throughout the school day
Weekly Certificates: Every week in our celebration assembly, children receive certificates
recognising how they have embodied our BE Values
This positive approach ensures that children feel valued and motivated to continue
demonstrating these important behaviours.

Why our BE Values matter

Our BE Values aren't just words on a wall - they're lived every day in our classrooms,
playground, and throughout our school community. By embedding these values into
everything we do, we help our children develop:
  • Resilience and independence - being ready and trying their best
  • Empathy and social skills - showing kindness and respect to others
  • Responsibility and self-awareness - keeping themselves and others safe
  • Collaboration and communication - working effectively as part of a team
These skills prepare our children not just for their next steps in education, but for life
beyond school, helping them become confident, caring, and capable young people.

We encourage parents to reinforce these values at home too, and we love to hear about
when children demonstrate our BE Values outside of school!
